Proving its steadfast commitment to innovation, Porsche AG, has announced that the all-electric Mission E concept car, which made its debut in September at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, will become a reality by the end of the decade. The newly green-lighted project will involve an investment of nearly 700 million euros, and will create more than 1,000 new jobs. In addition to expanding current facilities to accommodate the production of electric motors, the company will build new assembly building and paint shop, and enlarge the existing body shop.

"With Mission E, we are making a clear statement about the future of the brand. Even in a greatly changing motoring world, Porsche will maintain its front-row position with this fascinating sports car," said Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG.

The four-door sedan will have a range of over 300 miles, and with 600-horsepower electric motor, will accelerate from 0-60 in a blistering sub-3.5 seconds. The lithium-ion batteries will quick-charging to 80 percent in 15 minutes, as well as be capable of induction charging via a coil installed in the garage floor.
