Nearly every driver will eventually notice a few chips, dents, or dings on their vehicle at some point in time. Fast-moving debris on freeways or crowded Cincinnati, OH streets, rolling, unattended shopping carts, and other mishaps can leave automotive paint looking worse for the wear. If you intend to apply your own touch-up paint to correct these blemishes, it's important to do the job right. That's why at Porsche Cincinnati Kings, we're sharing two tips that are well worth remembering as you take these projects on.

Start With a Clean Surface

Never paint over a dirty, oily surface. If you do, the new paint that you apply won't adhere for long. Instead, start by first washing the targeted area with a mild soap or an appropriate de-greaser. Once the area is clean and fully dry, you can begin.

Apply Paint in Layers

Correcting paint damage isn't a quick process. You can't apply a single coat and consider the job done. Instead, you want to apply the paint in thin layers while giving each layer approximately 30 minutes to dry before adding the next. This will make it easier to seamlessly blend your new paint in with the old one.
